Nene Mariama Barry

 

A pioneer in financial management for more than 10 years, Nene Barry has worked for several financial institution such as JP Morgan Chase Bank, United Bank for Africa, PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining the humanitarian world as an international consultant focused on resources mobilization for developing countries in the health sector.

On her current assignment as a country liaison officer, she is in charge of developing and implementing strategies for children missing out on vaccination and address gender related barrier to promote immunization equity in the rural area. She also closely work with national government to promote domestic public resources for immunization and strengthen national and subnational political and social commitment to immunization.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nene played a pivotal role in leading the resources mobilization process for Guinea to help the country raise funds for the continuity service plan to ensure that primary health care services were not interrupted by the pandemic. She worked closely with WHO, Unicef, the Global Funds, USAID, the World Bank and many other health partners in an effort to optimize the available resources in a fragile context.

Prior to becoming an international Consultant, Nene worked as a Management Partner for Dalberg, as a deputy regional CFO for the United Bank of Africa in Ivory Coast. She was a financial management for the Corporate Investment Banking with the regulatory reporting team at JP Morgan Chase at the Headquarter in Delaware USA. Nene has also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor for several years.

During her carrier, Nene managed several teams and worked with board members to establish and drive strategies (i.e increase market share, expand digital products to the informal sector, advocate with government officials).

Fluent in French and English, Nene received her graduate degrees from the National Schools of Trade and Management with a Master of Arts in Accounting and Financial Management in Agadir, Morocco. In 2012, she received her MBA degree in Finance from RIT in Rochester New York.
