As the Audit Director for the Financial Audits Division for USAID OIG, Mr. Wilson assists the Inspector General in providing overall direction for the OIG’s expansive mandated audit portfolio of about $35 billion in annual expenditures. Specifically, he is responsible for leading and guiding others, which includes overseeing the financial statement audit engagements and operations of USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the U.S. African Development Foundation, and the Inter-American Foundation.
Mr. Wilson has more than 20 years of federal auditing and leadership experience. Before joining USAID OIG, he served as a lead auditor with the Naval Audit Service, conducting performance and contract audits. Prior to the Naval Audit Service, he worked in public accounting at Zukerman and Associates, Ltd in Virginia Beach, VA, conducting financial statement services for C and S corporations, trusts, estates, and partnerships.
Mr. Wilson earned a Associates Degree in Accounting from Danville Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Old Dominion University, and he is a proud Dale Carnegie Institute graduate. He is a Certified Government Financial Manager, a Certified Government Auditing Professional, a Certified Acquisition Auditor, and a Certified Internal Controls Auditor. He is a graduate of USAID OIG’s AIM to LEAD program, which included a capstone on enhancing collaboration between OIG Investigators and Auditors. In his spare time, he likes NBA basketball, crime documentaries, traveling, listening to the Howard Stern show, and occasional sand ATV riding.
