Paul J. Sobel, CIA, QIAL, CRMA, was unanimously elected by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) of the Treadway Commission’s Board of Directors to serve as COSO’s Chair beginning February 1, 2018. His term is scheduled to end in 2022. Mr. Sobel is a leading expert on governance, enterprise risk management, compliance, and internal control and has authored several books, including Managing Risks in Uncertain Times: Leveraging COSO’S New ERM Framework; Auditor’s Risk Management Guide: Integrating Auditing and ERM; and Enterprise Risk Management: Achieving and Sustaining Success. Prior to COSO, Mr. Sobel had a long and successful career as a Chief Risk Officer and Chief Audit Executive for a variety of global corporations. In addition, Mr. Sobel has held numerous volunteer leadership roles with The IIA, including Global Chairman in 2013-2014, as well as Senior Vice-Chairman and Vice-Chairman, and as President of The Internal Audit Foundation.
